international crochet & knit terms!

May. 14th, 2010 | 10:49 am

Every now and then there are posts about wanting to translate patterns - vogue has this cool page where you can check out terms from french, norwegian, spanish & many more. It says it is knitting, but it does also include some crochet terms as well - http://www.vogueknitting.com/magazine/article_archive/parlez-vous_knitting.aspx

Happy hearts cushion...

Long weekend + rain + yarn + crochet stitch dictionary = FUN!!!

I really wanted to try the "Happy hearts" in a stitch dictionary I have & I needed a new cushion cover so I made this...

I just alternated rows of single crochet with two bands of the Happy heart stitch and there we have it... easy peasy, and a lovely way to spend a rainy day.

Close up here...

hearts and diamonds afghan

Aug. 12th, 2008 | 08:55 pm
mood: satisfied satisfied

This is my adaptation of a hearts and diamonds pattern from Coats&Clarke - I wanted a wider panel in the centre so I did sets of extra double crochets on both sides of a central panel. It's not blocked, as I just finished it.  It only took a couple of weeks to do - the panels crochet up really quickly.

This is a close up of the heart shape....

I made it for myself because I wanted a little blankie in the lounge room to snuggle under on cold nights.  Looks like I will be fighting the cat for it!!!

Snowflake afghan

This is an afghan I just finished for a friend- a very simple design.  The afghan is just double crochets to the size and length you want the agfhan, with a very simple sc and chain border.

The wool is a blue variegated patons (??) zhivago - lovely silky texture.

You then make hexagons and then embroider them onto the blanket and make arms with chain stitch to make them snowflakes... my friend loves it :)
